How Long Can Ozempic Stay Out of the Refrigerator?

Like Insulin, Victoza, and Trulicity, Ozempic needs to be kept at the proper temperature to be effective. It is sensitive to high and low temperatures and requires rigorous storage conditions.

The injection pen must be refrigerated until the first time you use it and then thrown away after 56 days (refrigerator or room temperature). Always speak with your healthcare provider about any questions or concerns you may have about storing your Ozempic.

Refrigeration

Keeping your food and drink cool is a major concern in the hot summer months. For starters, you should make sure your fridge is stocked with enough cold beverage options to go around the clock and keep you cool as the mercury spikes. On the flip side, you should never overdo it by leaving perishables out on the counter for long periods of time. Similarly, you should keep your freezer stocked with ample amounts of frozen food and drinks to help prevent your frozen treats from spoiling before you can consume them. Lastly, be sure to take advantage of all the cool gadgets your refrigerator or freezer has to offer. This includes a smart keypad to control access, a remote that teleports you to your preferred location and a remote control thermostat to boot.

Room Temperature

Ozempic (semaglutide) is a medicine that may help people with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is an injectable medication that can be given once weekly.

The medication works by binding to glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors in your body. This helps stimulate insulin release, reduce glucagon release, and delay gastric emptying.

It can be used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity, but only if it is combined with weight loss and exercise. It is usually started at a low dose and can be increased over time.

The medicine can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 56 days. However, it should never be frozen. Frozen medicines break down and do not get back to their full effectiveness.

Disposal

Ozempic (semaglutide) pens need to be stored in the refrigerator until they are used for the first time. After use, you can store unused ozempic pens at room temperature (59degF to 86degF or 15degC to 30degC) for up to 56 days.

If you are traveling, it is best to store ozempic pens in a medical-grade travel cooler. This will ensure that the medicine stays at the correct temperature and will help to prevent bacteria from developing and spreading.

You can also store ozempic at room temperature (59degF to 85degF or 15degC to 32degC) for up to 56 days. After 56 days, even if there is still medicine in the pen, you should dispose of it.

This is a prescription medicine, so it must be used according to your doctor’s instructions. Follow all directions on the prescription label and the medication guides or instruction sheets included with the package.
