How to Cook Spaghetti Squash the Easy Way

For those who love a good bowl of spaghetti squash, how to cook spaghetti squash is a question that always pops up in one’s mind. This is because this succulent fruit not only tastes great when pureed, but when cooked too is even tastier. Cooking spaghetti squash is easy and requires only a few simple steps. Here’s how to cook spaghetti squash:

Cut the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds and any soft white skin inside the seeds. Place the pieces in a large bowl and drizzle over the olive oil or butter. Heat the bowl to the desired temperature and place the pieces in one at a time. Cook for three to four minutes or until the squash pieces are golden brown.

How to cook spaghetti squash in a slow cooker? In a medium sized saucepan, bring water to a boil and place half of the squash chunks in a single layer. Add half of the onions and bell pepper together with any seasonings, salt and pepper to the same pan. Cover for one hour or more.

How to cook spaghetti strands in a microwave? In a microwave safe bowl, heat the prepared noodles and place in microwave on high. Once fully cooked, drain while still warm. To serve, add carrot sticks, cheese, and herbs such as garlic powder, and olive oil.

How to cook spaghetti squash using a fork? In a microwave safe bowl, heat the prepared spaghetti strands and add about two tablespoons of olive oil or butter to each piece. Using a fork, turn them over and allow them to sit in the hot oil for about ten minutes before removing using a toothpick.

How to cook spaghetti squash using a roaster? A traditional way is by placing the squash on a baking sheet and roasting it until crisp and brown. Since the squash tends to be somewhat thick, use a teaspoon of salt to loosen and flatten it out before baking. Place on a roasting rack and let dry for about an hour. Using a fork, loosen and flip the pieces over so that they are nice and brown all the way through.

How to cook spaghetti squash using a fork? Much like the earlier technique, use a fork to carve the squash and place on a hot plate. Scrape across the plate as you would a thin slice of vegetables. Place in an oven and roast for about one hour or until squash is fork tender.

How to cook spaghetti squash with a toothpick? The same process, just using a toothpick. Once again, if squash is still a bit firm, place over the hot coals of your oven and try to pop it open. If it comes out easily, remove with fork and place in cold oven or microwave for a few more seconds.

How to cook spaghetti squash in a microwave? The same as the previous method, but with the addition of the microwave. Place over the hot coals of your oven and cook for about one minute or until squash is fork tender. Use a microwave safe bowl to place the cooked spaghetti squash on top of and cook for the same amount of time as stated above. Once it is done, use a spatula to scrape the insides of the bowl.

How to cook spaghetti squash in a skillet? Here, you’ll need to know how much squash you are going to need (depends on how many noodles you want to roast). First, cut the noodles lengthwise and discard the long end. Use a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Once your noodles are ready, place them on the hot pan and allow them to get hot through medium wave motion (do not burn them).

How to cook spaghetti squash in a skillet? In the same pan you cooked the noodles, add oil, bring to a gentle boil and then add your squash. Season to taste with salt and pepper and cook for two minutes. If desired, add cheese and continue to cook an additional two minutes.

How to cook spaghetti squash in an oven? This method is rather similar to the previous one. Once your spaghetti squash noodles are prepared, add oil to the same level as the noodles. Bring to a gentle boil and then add your squash. Season to taste with salt and pepper and continue to bake for two minutes.
